The collection was started by Sarah Conibear after seeing a Channel 4 programme in 1996 called 'Bloom' which featured the lupin.
After several years of growing fields of lupins, we selected the best forms and started to propagate them for sale. We were awarded National Collection status in 2004.
The lupin is a hardy herbaceous perennial, which has a stately, scented flower from May to July. The tree lupin is an evergreen subshrub with a woody base and tiny numerous scented flowers. It is particularly good for coastal areas.
Lupins seem to come in and out of fashion but with our work and exhibiting every year at the RHS shows, this lovely plant is still very popular.
We won the RHS Gold medal for our lupin display at Gardener's World Live and exhibit at Chelsea Flower Show every year.
We grow all our own plants and breed all our lupins and are primarily a mail order business. You are welcome to visit the nursery to view the lupins from March to the end July. However we are a nursery, not a garden centre so please ring first if you are coming some distance.
